MinneapolisKing25 Reviewed: August 19, 2024 concert by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
This show had magic beyond your typical show.  The weather was looking iffy all day.  The venue was located just north of the Logan Airport resulting in planes flying over behind the audience, a fitting backdrop for the new album released a couple weeks prior (Flight b741).  The band kicked off the night with the US tour bust out of the Table.  Gondii->Change->Extiction were played and jammed on with a lightning storm rolling behind the stage, but making no ground.  As the band played, the clouds kept rolling in.  After the tabel was rapped up with Grim Reaper, the band went into Supercell and as if they fought off the lightning lord on the horizon with the Table, they called down the rains with Supercell.  The rain didn't dampen any spirits, if anything the spectacle of the song with the rain energized the crowd even more.  Perihelion was a surprise with a fan named Timmy taking the stage and playing the song on Joey's guitar in tribute for his recently deceased friend (also named Joey).  Hell and Gila Monster were great, and the band once again struck magic with Magma.  Magma was performed with its usual ferocity and as they played the Super Blue Moon (no joke, that was the name of the moon that night) broke through the clouds of the horizon behind the audience.  The band comented on the light show the moon provided with planes landing over the audience at near by Logan airport.  All of the Flight b741 tracks were performed great, and Wah Wah was jammed on the River into Road Train to the crowd's delight.  The night ended with Hypertension and a FAFYL with a heavy metal jam that left the audience cheering and thrashing their heads.  This show with everything that happened weather wise, the fan participation with Timmy, the quality of the bands performance, and the excitement of the crowd made for a truely special King Gizzard concert. 5/5 and one that shouldn't be missed!
