Songs > Nothing Left To Hide (King Gizzard Remix) > History

This is no doubt one of the most obscure King Gizzard tracks in the band’s entire history. Part of Dorsal Fins’ debut release, the Gripless EP, “Nothing Left To Hide” is exactly what its title suggests: a remix of the Dorsal Fins song “Nothing Left To Hide.” Starting the second side of the EP, Gizzard’s take on the song is abstract, with a bunch of stuttering loops, strange mechanical whirring sounds and high pitch static. Halfway through a slow beat begins with guitars soaked in reverb (reminiscent of some Eyes Like the Sky guitar parts) as the stuttering continues. It ends with the entire track being filtered through tremolo.

Interestingly, this was not Gizzard’s first crossover with Dorsal Fins as vocalist Jarrad Brown helped the band record the Oddments song “Sleepwalker,” which was released a few months before Gripless. The track’s Bandcamp page specifically credits Joey and Stu for the creation of the remix, while the EP itself credits Joey and Stu alongside “the King Gizz Crew.” The song was released on April 3rd, 2014 and has never been played live.

Fun fact: the EP’s cover was made by Jason Galea. He also did the music video for “Nothing Left To Hide.”
