“It’s Got Old” is a mid-tempo jam about a rocky relationship with some standout harmonica work from Ambrose. It’s an oldie too. Before it was ever played as part of Gizzard, Stu played the track by himself at The Tote Hotel in Naarm (Melbourne) on 2012-07-17. At the time, the lyrics and song structure were already complete. This makes it the earliest known song from Oddments to be played live. In the liner notes the 2018 reissue, Stu wrote “we tried ‘It's Got Old’ for 12 Bar Bruise and Float Along before the 3rd and final recording worked.” According to an early track listing for Oddments in December of 2013, the song’s file was called “its got old (with harp)” — implying that Ambrose’s harmonica part was added on at a later date than the rest of the track. It was released as the fourth track on Oddments on March 7th, 2014.

The first reported live appearance as part of Gizzard was on 2014-10-24 at Brandeis University in Waltham. The song seemed to only be played a few times in 2014 and 2015 before being dropped off of sets. The 2016 documentary BOOTLEG HOLIDAY FROM HELL features the Brandeis University performance. In 2021 the band began to perform all acoustic shows and included “It’s Got Old” on three of these setlists. This version of the song would become the go-to for the band in the following years, though 2023-03-18 features an energetic electric version with a wah-wah-heavy outro.
