A perfectly cromulent show, but 2023 Hollywood Bowl is a tough act to follow. Admittedly I'm not the biggest fan of Phantom Island (except for Grow Wings and Fly), so maybe I'm the wrong guy for this concert, but I surprisingly didn't care for the orchestral renditions post-intermission either. The highlight was the intermission jam into Open Water because that was the only moment where it felt like a King Gizzard show.That said, it's still a King Gizzard show and the musicianship (orchestra and band) was elite as always. Worth a 3.5/4 out of 5 in my estimation, but I'm admittedly comparing this to the 2023 bowl show -- and some might argue that's apples and bowling balls.
