“Stoned” is an unreleased song written by Stu that was added to the ASCAP ACE Repertory alongside Gizzard’s early singles/Anglesea before the release of Float Along — Fill Your Lungs in 2013.
It’s an upbeat garage rock track seemingly about a girl getting stoned and her interactions with her mother and a priest. It was initially reported to be a cover of Split Enz’ “She Got Body, She Got Soul.” The song features a similar melody but is not a match. In later years, fans interpreted the song to be an early version of the Willoughby’s Beach track “Stoned Mullet,”, though this seems unlikely considering the working title of that song is known to have been “Jack-It.”

The earliest known performance was on 2011-12-09 during Merideth Music Festival. The other known performance was from 2011-12-31 at The Esplanade Hotel in Naarm (Melbourne). The song’s identity was determined by closely examining the vocals in the existing tape and transcribing the lyrics as “You gotta breathe in to get stoned. Yeah I wanna be alone.”
