Songs > Searching... > History

“Searching…” is a dark, hypnotic track in the middle of the “Tetrachromacy” suite that looks at what the protagonist of Polygondwanaland wants: to ascend to the level of a god by seeing “the fourth colour.” At the end of the track, that’s exactly what they get. The song is the calm before the storm, a moment to breathe before heading right into the ascendant chaos of “The Fourth Colour.” The song was performed by Cook (synthesizer), Joey (synthesizer) and Stu (vocals/bass guitar/acoustic guitar/synthesizer/percussion) with recording also being done by Stu at Flightless HQ. It was released on November 17th, 2017.

Despite coming from one of the band’s most beloved albums, “Searching…” has never been played live. In fact it's the only Polygondwanaland track that hasn’t been heard on stage. It may have been planned for their 2020 shows based on Joey’s “Sea of Trees” playlist though this never came to fruition. Stu has changed stances on the track over the years. When asked if it would ever be played live before the premiere of the music video for “Dreams,” he responded with “Searching is kind of boring.” That said, he mentioned that he’d like to play the song live during the band’s 2025 Reddit AMA.
