“Lean Woman Blues” is a slow blues track on T. Rex’s 1971 album Electric Warrior. It ends the first side of the record by reflecting on “lean love” — or love that causes trouble for its protagonist. The fuzzy guitars and charismatic vocals from Marc Bolan make it a standout on the album.

In 2013, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard did their own take of it, with production similar to Float Along — Fill Your Lungs (with notably distinct similarities to “I’m Not A Man Unless I Have A Woman” and “God Is Calling Me Back Home”). The history of the cover ties into the creation of Float Along — Fill Your Lungs, Stu has mentioned that the band were listening to a bunch of T. Rex while recording the album. The cover was credited on the band’s Facebook page to Stu and Syd O’Neil from the band The Vasco Era, whom they mentioned was Stu’s neighbor at the time. Gizzard’s take on “Lean Woman Blues” was released on August 14th, 2013 as part of TripleR’s #Trex4Lyf radiothon. That same day it was also released to the King Gizzard Soundcloud page, though it is no longer available on the site. That said, it has been reuploaded online.

No live performances of “Lean Woman Blues” are known to exist.
