Taking inspiration from soul music, and blending it with the band’s psychedelic analog production, “I’m Not A Man Unless I Have A Woman” is a simple and short love song sung between Stu and Ambrose.

Stu said in an interview for Moustache Magazine, “It’s not really like, deep from the heart, or anything like that. Ambrose and I just sing it together and Ambrose sings the girl part which we all kind of think is very funny… because he’s sort of the most womanly, androgynous member of the band. With the highest pitched voice, and the skinniest little hot-chick body. I think that was kind of part of it, was to do something where we can make him be a lady. But I don’t know, I think, like, the sentiment of it is pretty simple and straightforward and something a lot of people can probably relate to.” On September 4th, 2013, the song was released as a single — making it the third single for Float Along — Fill Your Lungs. The album was released on September 27th, 2013. Vinyl copies of the album give the song a unique intro done by PBS DJ Richie 1250.

A music video for the song by Jason Galea (credited to Zonkvision) was released on September 17th, 2013. The video shows clips of bikers riding and partying in various locations. These shots are interspersed with footage from photographer Carbie Warbie of the band playing “God Is Calling Me Back Home” on 2013-06-23 at Elsternwick Park in Naarm (Melbourne). In the Moustache Magazine interview, Stu mentioned that it was the second attempt at a video for the song as the band didn’t like the original cut, saying it “wasn’t right for the song.” He also said that the footage was taken off of an old VHS tape, though it seems that there were actually two or more videos used. Some of the clips were taken from Easyriders Video Magazine #1.

The song was only performed a handful of times in August of 2013 during full performances of Float Along — FIll Your Lungs. The first known performance was on 2013-08-21 at Bar Open while the last would be on 2013-08-29 at the Northcote Social Club — both in Naarm (Melbourne).
