Cornered by the beast, the protagonist is about to meet their fate — elaborated on in “Altered Beast III.” Like all “Alter Me” tracks, “Alter Me II” is a short and simple transitional track released as part of Murder of the Universe on June 23rd, 2017. A music video for “The Tale of the Altered Beast” was planned but never finished with footage making its way into promotional material and A BRIEF HISTORY OF PLANET EARTH.

The first known performance of “Alter Me II” was on 2016-12-09 at the Merideth Music Festival, making it the first “Alter Me” to be played live. Throughout 2017 the song was in heavy rotation appearing where it does on the album between “Altered Beast II” and “Altered Beast III.” Despite this, it dropped off of setlists almost entirely in 2018, with only a few appearances that summer. Since then it has been rarely played though it has seen some changes. In 2019 the song was occasionally played as “Alter Me II” > “Altered Beast III” and in 2022 it returned with narration from Leah Senior.
