“T.V. Eye” is a loud and electrifying punk song that was released on The Stooges’ 1970 record Fun House. While the name might lead one to believe that the song is commentating on television and popular culture, it’s actually about sexual desires. The phrase “T.V. eye”, coined by guitarist Ron Asheton’s sister Kathy, is an acronym for “twat vibe eye.” To put it into context, if a man was staring at a woman he was interested in, one could say he’s “looking at her with his T.V. eye.” The song’s title would later be used as the title of an Iggy Pop live album.
Gizzard played the song a few times in late 2014, with a first appearance on 2014-11-19 at Vera in Groningen performance and another the day after on 2014-11-20 at the TivoliVredenburg Pandora in Utrecht as part of the Le Guess Who? festival. No audio or video of these performances are known to exist.
