Songs > A Journey To (S)Hell > History

A completely instrumental track, “A Journey To (S)hell” is a chaotic song with the sounds of beeping cars, strange laughing, distorted guitars, wailing synthesizers, and a 7/8 groove. The song title is a pun referring to Shell gas stations, and to one on Lygon St. in particular (179-189 Lygon St.), not far from Flightless HQ. A Facebook live stream from the day of the Sketches release shows the band walking to the store to grab a few things before listening to the album in its entirety. It's likely the song is also inspired by the wider ecological issues that Shell has presented over the years, with its doomy atmosphere and later songwriting comparisons between hell and burning fossil fuels. The song was played by Alex Brettin (electric guitar), Ambrose (harmonica), Cavs (drum kit 1/drum kit 2), Joey (bass) and Stu (synthesizer). It was released on August 18th, 2017.

“A Journey To (S)hell” has never been played live based on available data.
