Converge (Demo) (or as it was known at the time, Uncolonize) played through the PA as the band walked on stage. Planet B was dedicated to the nearby wildfires. Honey contained Sleep Drifter teases. The Garden Goblin was introduced by Stu as a song Cookie wrote about Lucas, before Cookie clarifies that its about his dog in his garden. There were PA issues during Pleura and the show was paused midway through The Garden Goblin when the PA went down. During the pause the band reminisced about Radiohead's sound cutting out at Coachella 2017, a festival King Gizzard also performed at. Grace Cummings was thanked before Blame It On The Weather. Robot Stop contained Ice V quotes and Hot Water teases. Boogieman Sam contained Cut Throat Boogie quotes and teases.
KGLW.net Staff Notes: The setlist for this show is believed to be complete. Gaia through Robot Stop have been confirmed via audio/video recordings. This show was part of the 2022 Desert Daze Festival (held on Moreno Beach at the Lake Perris State Recreation Area) and featured the live debut of Iron Lung. Gaia featured a Cavs drum solo. Boogieman Sam contained Cut Throat Boogie, “Got My Mojo Working” (Ann Cole) quotes, and “My Babe” (Little Walter) quotes. Following Murder of the Universe the band shouted out Tame Impala, who also appeared at the festival. Following K.G.L.W. (Outro), Joey called out “our other best friends Mild High Club”, who were also playing that night, and Ambrose got them confused with Mildlife, another group the band was friends with playing the festival the next day. Float Along - Fill Your Lungs had a false start due to Stu's guitar being out of tune and contained a metal jam. The Dripping Tap was introduced as a song “about swimming in a sea of death”, and during the song Stu crowd surfed to and swam in Lake Perris, then crowd surfed back to the stage. The song contained Torture Chamber quotes. |

An I In Heaven? was teased prior to Magenta Mountain. The intro to O.N.E. contained Straws in the Wind teases. The River contained Wah Wah teases and quotes throughout, as well as Crumbling Castle teases. The Land Before Timeland was played over the PA as the setbreak music, which incidentally served as the “debut” for the studio track. Rattlesnake contained teases and quotes from O.N.E., Automation, Honey, and Minimum Brain Size, and teases of Sleep Drifter. Honey contained teases of Sleep Drifter and Billabong Valley. The Reticent Raconteur through The Balrog featured Leah Senior (introduced as “The Balrog” and “the best singer”) providing the narration. Ambrose quoted “Happy Birthday, Lisa” (The Simpsons) while referencing Joey’s “Australian birthday” prior to The Grim Reaper. The Grim Reaper was then introduced as “some weird-ass Satanic rap”. The show opened with a brief drum solo by Cavs prior to the rest of the band taking the stage. History owner (Drake) (“Champagne Papi”) was mentioned a number of times over the course of the show. Rattlesnake contained O.N.E. and Automation quotes and teases. Ambrose crowd surfed while singing the refrain in Straws in the Wind. Joey introduced Anoxia as “my Neil Young impersonation song.” Ice V was introduced as being “in memory of Queen E.” Prior to Digital Black, Joey said "hello" numerous times in a Han-Tyumi impression. Soy-Protein Munt Machine and Vomit Coffin contained Hypertension teases. The Dripping Tap contained an I’m in Your Mind Fuzz Suite tease.
KGLW.net Staff Notes: The recordings of this show are incomplete (missing Digital Black). KGLW.net staff do have enough to confirm the > into Han-Tyumi and that Ice V came to a full stop. For the show opening drum solo, it was discussed whether this should be added to the setlist as “Fury” in order to match with the show opening drum solo from the Melbourne ‘21 bootlegger release. It was decided that the drum solos labeled “Fury” by the band consist of a distinct double bass drum part which is absent from this drum solo and that other drum solos have been given different names (i.e. “Parking” on Chunky Shrapnel), therefore it was decided to leave this drum solo as a show note since we do not have definitive information on what it should be called. If anyone has any further information about these items, or ideally, a complete or conclusive recording please contact KGLW.net staff at [email protected].

The show began with a drum solo leading into Venusian 2. Before Predator X, an “Asheville Gatherum” shirt was thrown on stage, and Stu changed into it. Slow Jam 1 contained Ice V and Magenta Mountain teases. Magenta Mountain was dedicated to Robert “Bob” Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizer. Nuclear Fusion featured Lucas on the intro vocal. Another t-shirt was thrown up on stage after Iron Lung; Stu thanked everyone for the t-shirts noting that “I fucking stink like shit so it’s perfect.” After Stu declared that “showers are for squares,” Ambrose then suggested that Stu had never had a shower in his life, “only golden ones.” Wah Wah contained a The River intro, as well as teases and quotes. The Dripping Tap contained The Land Before Timeland teases.

Evil Death Roll did not include the Invisible Face section and instead featured a Hypertension-esque jam (see below). The intro to Ambergris featured musical banter regarding a “big-ass beer”. Leah Senior was shouted out prior to Crumbling Castle.
KGLW.net Staff Notes: There was a good deal of discussion about whether the jam in Evil Death Roll constituted a Hypertension tease or was merely suggesting a variation on Hypertension through Stu’s playing. We decided that this example did not qualify as a “tease”, “quote”, or full “jam.” Rather than expand our lexicon to include “motif” or “theme,” we opted to simply mention and qualify it in the setlist notes.

The band introduced the show by acknowledging how little they play hometown shows, citing Melbourne inner-city gentrification. Crumbling Castle was then introduced as “The Fourth Colour”, “Crumbling Castle”, and finally, “Gamma Knife”. The Fourth Colour featured a Cavs drum solo. The Grim Reaper was introduced as a song that Ambrose wrote about Stu, and featured an additional verse and quotes from Sadie Sorceress. This show featured the debut of Change. Plastic Boogie was played for the first time since June 5, 2022 (74 show gap). Prior to The Garden Goblin Joey teased the commercial theme for Bunnings Warehouse, an Australian home improvement store. The Garden Goblin was then introduced by Cookie as a song about the time his dog snuck into a Bunnings. The Dripping Tap contained Cellophane teases. Hot Wax was on the printed setlist but was not played. Hot Water and Hypertension were on the printed setlist after The Garden Goblin but were moved up to keep the band’s synth equipment out of the rain. This show was released through the Official Bootlegger program as part of Live in Chicago '23.
KGLW.net staff note: There was much internal discussion as to a potential tease of the intro to Gondii in Change. The arrangement of instruments and structure of Change has been modified compared with the studio version. Though it resembles a tease of Gondii, we believe more live instances need to he heard to determine if this is intentional, or just an accentuation of the existing relationship between the songs.
