The Coffee Cola Song (Francis Bebey) played as the band came on stage. At the start of the show, Joey says this is "the biggest show we've ever played". Before Nuclear Fusion, Joey said that he had said he wasn't going to do the vocal intro anymore, but that he'd "do it tonight". He jokingly apologized to Sam after the vocal intro. The Book was instrumental. Doom City contained a Crumbling Castle outro. Sister Ray (The Velvet Underground) was played over the PA as the setbreak music with a 15 minute countdown on the screen. Han-Tyumi, The Confused Cyborg contained alternate lyrics and Stu on flute. Robot Stop contained a Hot Water tease. |

This show was broadcast live by NPO 3 Extra. “Stayin' In Black” (Bee Gees + AC/DC by Wax Audio) played through the PA as the band came on stage. Following Altered Beast II, Joey joked that he preferred Lowlands over Pukkelpop (another European festival the band played the day before). Sleep Drifter contained Billabong Valley and Rattlesnake teases. Robot Stop contained a Hot Water tease and a Master of The Universe jam with lyrics. |

Does “biggest show gap in years” count?
Crumbling Castle had been played literally every couple shows for years. Then the band took a little break from playing it; this is its triumphant return (after Covid paused live music), as the encore for a tiny punk venue in northern California. (2nd Biggest gap for CC, after 2017-11-18) |

This show featured the debut of Ice V. Wah Wah began with the intro to The River, and subsequently contained Crumbling Castle and The River teases. O.N.E. began with the intro to Straws in the Wind instead of the customary intro. Pleura contained a quote of “Freedom” (Rage Against the Machine). Straws in the Wind was dedicated to Russell Brand. Smoke and Mirrors was played over the PA as the setbreak music. Gaia featured a Cavs drum solo. Ambergris contained an Ice V tease. Before The Reticent Raconteur, Leah Senior was introduced to the stage as “The Original Balrog” and Joey gave a shoutout to her live bass player Jack [Robbins], with the bonus trivia that he was also in Stu’s first band Almacknjack. The Reticent Raconteur was played for the first time since 2021-02-24 (61 show gap). The Reticent Raconteur and The Lord of Lightning featured narration by Leah Senior. The Fourth Colour was played for the first time since 2019-11-23 (70 show gap). Am I in Heaven? contained The Dripping Tap teases.

Evil Death Roll did not include the Invisible Face section and instead featured a Hypertension-esque jam (see below). The intro to Ambergris featured musical banter regarding a “big-ass beer”. Leah Senior was shouted out prior to Crumbling Castle.
KGLW.net Staff Notes: There was a good deal of discussion about whether the jam in Evil Death Roll constituted a Hypertension tease or was merely suggesting a variation on Hypertension through Stu’s playing. We decided that this example did not qualify as a “tease”, “quote”, or full “jam.” Rather than expand our lexicon to include “motif” or “theme,” we opted to simply mention and qualify it in the setlist notes.

Rattlesnake contained Sleep Drifter teases. The outro to Sleep Drifter contained Honey quotes before returning to the earlier Rattlesnake jam. Before Pleura, the band shouted out The Murlocs (with Cavs filling in on drums) for killing it prior to their set. Before Gaia, it was noted that Fishing for Fishies had been recorded by Gareth Liddiard of Tropical Fuck Storm. Gaia featured a Cavs drum solo over a metal vamp from the band. Before The Dripping Tap, Joey again shouted out The Murlocs, Leah Senior, and “Tropical Fuck Cunts”.
KGLW.net Staff Notes: For those wondering about the nature of the show-opening Rattlesnake sequence, the band is jamming on Rattlesnake themes before an immediate and natural transition to Honey, which is immediately followed by a segue into Sleep Drifter that contains elements of Honey all the way through, and finally a return to the bridge and “Rattle, rattle, rattle” portion of the preceding Rattlesnake jam, thus completing the “Snake Sandwich”. |

Vomit Coffin featured the now-infamous “Amby Snot Rocket”. Blame It on the Weather was humorously announced as the “complete opposite style of music” to the show-opening Murder of the Universe suite. Work This Time featured a guitar solo. Cut Throat Boogie was announced as a song about Ambrose getting stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle. Wah Wah began with the intro to The River and subsequently featured The River quotes and teases, as well as a jam. Sadie Sorceress featured an additional verse from The Grim Reaper played over the music to Sadie Sorceress. Joey requested the cameraperson zoom in to his face as close as possible during the intro to Self-Immolate and introduced Cavs as “John Henry Bonham”, followed by a drum solo and a “Moby Dick” (Led Zeppelin) tease, plus an additional brief drum solo and “Moby Dick” tease at the end of the song. Before Her and I (Slow Jam 2), the weather was discussed and the band’s ignorance regarding Fahrenheit to Celsius conversions was revealed. The song itself featured a Flamethrower jam, Slow Jam 1 and Magma teases, and a brief Cut Throat Boogie jam. Hot Wax was dedicated to one of the band's sound engineers, Joe Santarpia. Timeland was played over the PA as the setbreak music. Head On/Pill opened with “The Star-Spangled Banner” intro, contained Hypertension teases and a Witchcraft tease, and was unfinished leading into Am I in Heaven?. Venusian 1 closed with a Cavs drum solo which led into Venusian 2. Ambrose introduced Billabong Valley as being about a bushranger and is interrupted by Joey calling him “mad-cunt Morgan”. Let Me Mend the Past was announced as a song about Ambrose’s somewhat troubled upbringing and was dedicated to Edith, Ambrose’s sister. Alter Me III and Altered Beast IV were performed with Leah Senior providing the narration. Float Along - Fill Your Lungs contained a metal jam. Tetrachromacy and Hypertension were on the printed setlist but cut due to time constraints.
This show was released through the Official Bootlegger program as part of Live at Red Rocks ‘22.

The band introduced the show by acknowledging how little they play hometown shows, citing Melbourne inner-city gentrification. Crumbling Castle was then introduced as “The Fourth Colour”, “Crumbling Castle”, and finally, “Gamma Knife”. The Fourth Colour featured a Cavs drum solo. The Grim Reaper was introduced as a song that Ambrose wrote about Stu, and featured an additional verse and quotes from Sadie Sorceress. Stu sang the third verse twice instead of the second verse in Ice V. Iron Lung was introduced as a “song about vaping”. Ambergris was introduced as a song about “the most expensive naturally occurring ingredient”. Float Along - Fill Your Lungs contained a Dragon jam. |

This show was part of the 2022 Rhythm & Alps Festival. “The End” (The Doors) was briefly quoted after The Fourth Colour. Am I In Heaven? contained Witchcraft, Head On/Pill and The Dripping Tap teases. Amusing banter followed Am I in Heaven? where the band talked about their New Year’s resolutions. KGLW.net Staff Notes: While it was widely believed that Satan Speeds Up had never been played live prior to this show; per Stu's comments a previously unnoted performance took place at the 2014 St. Kilda Festival (February 9, 2014). As there are no known recordings of the band's set at the 2014 St. Kilda Festival, if anyone has any information on what was played at the 2014 St. Kilda Festival show or, ideally, a complete or conclusive recording please contact KGLW.net staff at [email protected].

This show was performed with The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, conducted by Sarah Hicks. Grow Wings and Fly contained Plastic Boogie teases and a Hypertension jam with The Dripping Tap and Magma teases. At the start of the jam, Joey asked the pit what they were eating for dinner and said he hoped it wasn’t fish. Stu then joked that everyone had food poisoning before saying that it actually looked good. The band followed up by asking if the crowd had any desserts to share. A fan gave Cook tiramisu after he asked for it. He ate a bite and gave it back, and Stu joked that he put death cap mushrooms in it. Ambrose took a bucket of popcorn and ate it, later cleaning it off the stage after it went everywhere. This Thing was introduced by Joey as a song about Los Angeles, followed by him quoting I Love L.A. (Randy Newman). Mars for the Rich was dedicated to Elon Musk, with Stu saying the band decided all billionaires are going to prison (except Cook because he was chill) and had lyrics changed to “Tesla’s too dear” alongside an added “Free Palestine”. Ambrose gave a shout-out to his mom before Iron Lung. During the song, he walked into the garden pit and dumped a bucket of popcorn on himself. |
